6.1 Nonpoint source approaches

Nonpoint source data are provided by state, local, and tribal (S/L/T) agencies, and for certain sectors and/or pollutants, they are supplemented with data from the EPA. This section describes the various sources of data and the selection priority for each of the datasets to use for building the National Emissions Inventory (NEI) when multiple data sources are available for the same emissions source.
